The devil doesn’t make you do anything. The devil can’t make you do anything. What the devil does is whisper negatives in your ear and suggestions of what to do. You are the one with God-given free will. You make you do it. The devil just whispers and, when you start listening, he even shouts.
No, I’m not devil obsessed. I just like to always remember that he is very real and just not some Hollywood make-believe character. He’s a real being; the embodiment of evil. The exact opposite of the God he aspired to be. If you simply understand that, it’s easier to live life. Not in fear but in day in, day out walking closer to God.
The closer to God you move the easier it is to FIGHT the devil. There’s an acid test to which direction you are really moving. Nothing at all negative—and I mean NOTHING at all negative—comes from God. Any negative thought, no matter how small and seemingly insignificant, comes from the devil. It’s a seed planted that if you let it go it grows and grows. The end result can be really bad—even life ending.
Every day I try to root out any negative thinking in my like. Any simple grudge or hurt feeling, no matter how small, I get over. If I can’t, I PRAY and ask God for help. Any little doubt that I can’t do something I turn on its ear. I try to walk straight forward each day, avoiding any paths that lead to dead ends. I’m far from perfect and don’t always get over the hurt or doubt right away but I do my best every day to move on.
The devil loves doubt. It is a primary weapon. Whispering doubt in your ear is the devil’s strong suit. Doubt holds you back in life. It is an anchor and, worse yet, is a cancer that grows if you let it, stopping you from realizing your God-given potential in life.
Don’t live in fear or obsession with the devil. Just understand he is real and very active in the world. Look around you—it doesn’t take much to see evil is very real in this lifetime. The good thing to remember is that the devil doesn’t make it to the next life. There is no evil in heaven.
