Two of the 7 Secrets to Life I have found are LOVE and FIGHT. I always get remarks that they can’t be—they are opposite ends of the spectrum. How can you LOVE while at the same time FIGHT? Makes no sense, right?
A key Secret to Life is LOVE. That’s because God commands us to do one thing, and one thing only: LOVE. All ten commandments can be summed up in one simple word: LOVE. As John says, “Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (1 John 4:8). You can’t get close and know God if you don’t LOVE. And that means you have to LOVE everyone around you, not just those who you want to LOVE.
The ironic thing is that if you don’t LOVE you are an easy target for the devil. And, yes, as much as you may not want to know it, the devil is real. He is after souls, especially those who are far from God by not loving. You have to FIGHT the devil at every turn because as Peter says, “Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)
It’s ironic but the best way to FIGHT is to LOVE. LOVE and you move closer to God, on the path of life God intends you to be on. Don’t LOVE and you will spend your life FIGHTing or will simply get swallowed up by the devil. LOVE and you are doing your best FIGHTing.
