The Lord’s Prayer — Nourish, Forgive & Deliver

Jesus taught us how to pray. Commonly referred to as The Lord’s Prayer, it was Jesus’ gift to us before He gave up His life for us. After praising God, the “ask” in the prayer of God can be summed up in 3 words—Nourish, Forgive, and Deliver. Simple.

Giving us our “daily bread” is not about asking God to feed us. It’s about asking God to provide all of our basic needs, including nourishing us with His Word. Yes, it’s about food for the body but it’s most importantly about food for the soul.

Asking God to forgive us “as we forgive others” is really important to understand. God will forgive us as we forgive others. God forgives us unconditionally regardless of what we do. But the forgiveness we feel is measured against how we forgive others. Think about that for a bit.

Finally, we ask God to deliver us from evil. You not only have to ask for deliverance; you really need to want deliverance.

As everything else with God this is really simple—Nourish us, Forgive us, and Deliver us. How we need to talk to God.
