“He is a liar”

Jesus not only acknowledged the reality of the devil but he painted this picture of him…

“He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

Here’s a new flash for you: The devil is real; very real. Jesus knew so and told us exactly what the devil is all about—lies. Furthermore, Jesus warned us who to fear…

“Fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell.” Luke 12:5

So, where does that leave us. Quaking in our boots? Living under a rock? Hiding in fear? No! We simply need to be aware that the devil is real and not some Hollywood creation. And we need to FIGHT him every step of the way. We need to ignore his whispers of temptation.

If you live life focused on yourself you have made a fertile place for the devil to plant himself and grow in your life. On the other hand, if you focus on others you build up a natural wall of defense without even thinking about the devil. If you walk in love, as God commands, and live your life in love of others, you make it very hard for the devil to get a foothold in your life.

Focus on others and you grow closer to God. Focus on yourself and grow closer to the devil. It is inevitable. He will feed you with lies until you don’t know what is real.

If you live in love there is no reason to fear the devil and his lies.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18

So FIGHT by loving. It’s that simple. LOVE!
