The Lord is always with you. You may not be with the Lord, but God is ALWAYS with you! The Lord never leaves us. We leave him. Just like he commanded Joshua after the death of Moses, God is talking to us right now:
“I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
God was telling Joshua to shake off the death of Moses, keep the law Moses gave the people from God, meditate on God’s Word day and night, and enter the promised land. Pick up a Bible and read Joshua 1:1-9. It’s a prescription from God on what ails us. It’s as timely today, for each one of us, as it was for Joshua thousands of years ago.
The problem is we are just like the Israelites who wandered the desert for 40 years, constantly doubting God and turning their back on him. At times, they worshiped everything but God. The promised land in their lives was over there, never obtainable.
The promised land in your life is right in front of you to grasp. It’s not a fairyland. You simply have to be “strong and courageous,” know God is with you, and enter it. You’ll know God is with you when you keep his commandment to love and meditate on his Word, especially the Word made alive in Jesus Christ.
This may sound like some more religious hokey-pokey. But it’s not. It’s a prescription for living a life that is the promised land, in this world and the next for eternity. We want to blame God for not being with us when he is always there. We simply don’t acknowledge him. It’s easier that way. Just like the Israelites in their own desert we wander the deserts of our own lives.
God is with you—always! Simply turn to him and amazing things start to happen. It’s really that easy. Remember—God intends life to be simple. We’re the ones who complicate it.
Have a GREAT day in your promised land!
