I wrote a few days ago about the acid test of a real Christian is living in LOVE. God the Father first commanded us to LOVE. In order to open up our deaf ears the Father sent His only Son to repeat the command—LOVE. As is often the case when I write a post I end up being faced with it head on. A family situation is making it hard to do anything but LOVE. So, I’m trying my best to forgive in order to LOVE.
When you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. Mark 11:25
Jesus told us to forgive so that we clear the air for God to forgive us. If you can’t forgive someone else, regardless of what they have done, how can you expect God to forgive you, regardless of what you have done? That’s what I am repeating to myself this morning. Forgiveness not only clears the path for God’s forgiveness, it clears the path for us to LOVE. Forgiveness is putting our hurt and feelings aside and taking a higher road. That road leads to God.
Forgiving is like cleaning a cluttered closet. It gets rid of useless stuff that just makes the closet unlivable. So, fighting against all hurt I am going to do my best today to forgive. No forgiveness, no LOVE. No LOVE, no Christian. Jesus wasn’t kidding when he told us to forgive. You can’t be a Christian if you don’t follow the instruction of Christ.
Forgive someone today!
