Are You Christian? Here’s the Acid Test.

LOVE!!! If you walk in love and believe that Jesus Christ is your Savior, you are Christian. Note the first criteria that you must walk in love. It’s not sufficient that you simply believe in Jesus. There are a lot of so called “christians” (intentional little “c”) out there who walk in anything but love. Unfortunately, they are not real Christians.

Jesus came into this world to save each one of us from our sins. He did so out of the love of God. He walked this earth in love. “God is love” (1 John 4:16) and he sent his Son to show us how to walk in love. So, really believing in Jesus is believing in walking in his footsteps of love.

There are lots of time, like yesterday over a family incident, that what’s in my heart is anything but love. I screw up all the time. But when I realize that I’m not living in love I ask Jesus to show me the way. And that stone in my heart always starts dissolving.

I’m not passing judgement on anyone—that’s God’s job—but anyone who does not walk in love, or at least put their best foot forward in love, is not a real Christian (with a capital “C”). Jesus sacrificed his life for each one of us and anyone who really believes in him believes in his life message of love.

LOVE—it’s the 3rd, and most important, Secret to Life. If you try your best to LOVE, you are not just believing in Jesus but following in his footsteps. Look back at the past few days and assess if you really are walking in love. If you really are Christian.

This my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12

Have a GREAT week walking in love!

  1. THE COMMAND IS: “GOD IS SPIRIT, THEREFORE HIS WORSHIPERS MUST WORSHIP IN THE SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH. ” NO OBEDIENCE = FALSE LOVE

    • Agree. But if you put others before yourself, as Jesus did, you are walking in love. Love is about sacrifice of yourself and interests by putting them second to others.

  2. What is love? I know a man who believes Christ is his Saviour, but doesn’t do what Christ asks of us; he loves his sins too much to let go of them. Christ says, “If you love me, keep my commandments” (Jn 14:15). God bless!

    • Love is putting others before yourself. That’s what Jesus did. Sin is self-absorption and focus on self.

If anyone truly believes in Christ as Savior then that belief is rooted in Jesus command for us to love one another.

      Have a wonderful day!
