You may have heard the song Love Makes the World Go ‘Round written by Bob Merrill for the musical Carnival!. Love should make the world go around because it is the one, only, and very simple command that God gives us and Jesus redelivered and lived. But the kickstart to love is humility, where you think more of others than yourself.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. Philippians 2:3
You simply can’t love if you are not humble. And if you don’t love, you are not walking with God. And if you are not walking with God you’ll be hitting dead ends in your life sooner or later.
Everything starts with humility. It is first the realization that everything you have, whatever that is, is from God. By God’s grace you are what you are.
But by the grace of God I am what I am. 1 Corinthians 15:10
Then, humility looks outwards to others, not inwards to self. I value you more than I do me. I look for ways of serving you rather than satisfying me.
The way to really feel God in your life is by letting His love flow through you to others. And the kickstart to getting that love flowing is humility.
