I have a very simple New Year’s resolution for 2016. I am going to answer the question of what my life is about—me or God? Who’s will guides my life—mine or God’s? Am I living just for me or for God? The answers may sound easy but it’s all in the execution. Talk is cheap. Actions speak a thousand words. Me or God?
To be clear, during 2015 I tried to live a life with God in the driver’s seat and navigating my life. But in reality I was doing much of the driving and navigating. It was all about me too much of the time.
So, rather than simply say that I’ll turn it around and live for God I am just going to ask the question of who’s first in my life. And I’m going to let my actions answer the question.
We live in a world living for self. Most of the ardent “religious” zealots are not living for God but for self. And, in the process, for the devil.
I say all the time that change happens one person at a time. So, I’m going to do my best to change this person. And change is only possible when you put yourself aside and start living for God. In a practical sense that means loving others as God commands us. That means not giving a verbal nod to love but really loving all around us—including those who bother us the most. Not easy but what God commands us to do.
Me or God? We’ll see.
You or God?
My wishes for a healthy, blessed, and fulfilling 2016!
