After the bombing in Turkey I heard a news commentator ask the question “Has God left us?” to a pastor who had witnessed the incident. Of course, it’s an absurd question. The real question is, “Have we left God?” And I think the clear answer is a resounding YES!!!
Our faith in God is eroding. You don’t have to rely on the studies to confirm that fact. Just look around you. God is simply not an important part of our lives. What’s most important are the things around us and grabbing more of them. Things, things, and things. God is becoming—or has become—a distant memory.
Want to find out how this all ends up. Read the Old Testament. We are the Israelites roaming the desert. They were OK when they followed God and His commandments. When they strayed they were not only lost but everything bad in life happened. There is a reason why the story of a people wandering the desert is at the beginning of God’s handbook on life for us. It’s our story and is playing out now. Just look at the world around you.
