Understand that God knows all of our thoughts before we express them. He knows what we are going through and what we need even before we pray.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Matthew 6:8
So, why pray?
Jesus tells us that if we ask we will receive. Our Father is there for us, ready to respond because he loves us so much. This doesn’t mean we can or should ask for anything. We have to be careful what we ask for because God may just give it to us. What may seem like a blessing could turn out to be a bane. God—in his infinite love—is always teaching us and shaping us for eternity with him. Like a loving parent, God lets us make mistakes as a lesson to us. We say that God “works in strange ways.” That’s strange to us, not to him. What we ask God for in prayer may just turn out to be tough medicine.
The 7th Secret to Life is PRAY and you will find that God will answer. Prayer works. It really does work. This truly is another secret because if more people prayed the world would be a far different place. More people would be in touch with God. More people would be in touch with themselves. There would be much more love in the world.
With prayer, it’s impossible not to understand God’s purpose for each one of us. It’s impossible not to hear God’s call. It’s impossible not to understand God’s love for us and his message to love one another.
Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous. Matthew 5:44-45
Yes, with more prayer we could transform the world. I know this is another statement that may be tough to swallow. However, trust me, prayer works. No, trust God. Experience for yourself. PRAY! God will answer. The proof is in the prayer.
May he grant you your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your plans. May we shout for joy over your victory, and in the name of our God set up our banners. May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. Psalm 20:4-5
