I hope all of you celebrating July 4th, our country’s Independence Day, had an enjoyable, peaceful time filled with family. It’s a great time to come together and think about those people who sacrificed so much to free this country. The events over 200 years ago not only shaped a country but had a profound impact on the entire world.
The MOST important Independence Day actually took place around 2,000 years ago. Jesus Christ sacrificed his life to save all of ours. Every sin every committed, or to be committed, was erased forever. We are free! However, we have to believe that and remember it everyday, not just around the Easter season, to feel the freedom.
We all sin. That’s the inherent nature of the human condition. The key is how we react to sin. Understanding that Jesus gave so much for our sins is the first step to independence. The next step is thanking him and doing our best to not repeat the sin. Do that and feel a freedom like no other freedom.
Take a moment today to remember the MOST important independence day. Ask Jesus to forgive you and you will realize that he already has—with his life.
