If someone handed you a gift and you didn’t even open it the giver would be pretty hurt. Well, if you don’t even attempt to pray imagine how God feels.
Prayer should be the most treasured gift you ever have been given. It is a gift from God. He even sent his only Son to teach us about prayer and how to do it. He led by example because Jesus frequently went off by himself to pray.
Some pray or think about it as a memorization of words and mindlessly reciting them. In reality, prayer is nothing more than conversing with God—talking and listening. And the listening part is as important as the talking.
There’s nothing hard about prayer. It’s simply opening up your heart and mind to God in conversation. Sure, there are prayers you can recite but the key is to talk the words from the heart—don’t just recite them.
I think prayer breaks doing the day are so important. Yes, time slips away from me and I neglect to stop my world for a few minutes and pray. But my days are better when I stop to converse with God.
