Picture God looking at this world of ours. He sees violence all over the map. He sees political leaders who can’t even have a civil conversation with one another. He sees divisions by color—black and white, red and blue; the list goes on. He shakes his head.
God has given us one very simple, basic command on how to live our lives: LOVE. He told us that the way to love him is by loving all others around us. We should think more about others than we do ourselves. To make that clear as day, God gave us his only Son, Jesus Christ, to walk this earth and show us what the ultimate expression of LOVE is—giving your life for others.
God doesn’t expect us all to lay down our lives. He simply commands us to live our lives in LOVE. Do you? Is God smiling looking down on you or shaking his head.
This is not a world that right now is defined by love. This isn’t even a world defined by civility. More and more, it’s a world defined by hate. Satan is smiling.
Change comes with one person at a time. So, it’s up to each of us to take a hard look at our lives and figure out if we really LOVE. Really! Is God smiling at us or is Satan?
The world will never change until we change our immediate world around us. That starts with you and me. You may think that this sounds so idealistic and simple but that’s exactly what it is—idealistic and simple. God means life to be so simple. We’re the ones who make it so complicated.
Everyday is a new day. Make this a day to bring some LOVE into your world. Start with a smile. It’s not hard. Make this a day that has God smiling at you.
