I write a lot about keeping God at the center of your life. My 1st Secret to Life is LISTEN, both for God and to God about what he is calling you to do with your life. But there are a lot of doubters out there saying, “I can’t hear God!” “In fact, I don’t even feel God in my life.” So, here are some thoughts, and two key verses, that I hope will not only help you find God in your life but to hear him calling you.
First, you have to want to find God to actually find him in your life. I know that sounds pretty simple, but life should be simple. God designed our lives to be simple. We’re the ones who complicate life. So, if you really, really want to find God in your life you simply have to search for him. And if you search for him you will find him. Yes, it’s that simple.
When you search for me, you will find me, if you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13
You search for God with your mind and your heart. You have to want to find him in your life both intellectually as well as soulfully. If your mind is wide open and your seek him with ALL your heart you will find God. I know—sounds way too simple. But, once again, that’s the way God means life to be. We are the ones who complicate life and put up the barriers between us and him. God is always there in our lives. We are the ones who cover him up and construct mental and physical obstacles in our lives to finding God.
You need to find quiet time in your life to LISTEN for and to God. How can you possible hear God if you don’t stop to hear him and then open up your mind and heart to him? We let the rush of the world drown out even the shouts from God. We simply can’t hear him without being still.
Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10
You will find God in your life and you will hear him. I’m not talking about some cloud-splitting, thunder-rattling voice from afar. I’m talking about a soulful inner feeling and voice that is God. He made us, is in each of our lives, and is calling us to a unique, special purpose.
Be still for a few minutes today and get in contact with God. If you already feel God in your life make sure you LISTEN to him.
Have a great day and even better weekend!
Amen! He is always available to us, but we are not always available to Him. He speaks to us, but unfortunately we miss it. There are so many voices that clamor for our attention, we must be willing to listen to the voice of truth and it requires us to be still before Him. Be blessed today and find a way to bless someone else!
Thanks, Shelly! So very true. God is there; we often aren’t. We let the sounds of the world drown out the sound of God’s voice. Blessings!
