It’s that simple. Prayer works. If you don’t believe that, start praying. If you say, “I do, and all the time, but God doesn’t answer my prayers!”, here are a few thoughts to help.
You are not going to get exactly what you ask for in prayer. It’s not like rubbing a magic lamp and getting three wishes answered. Prayer is simply conversation with God—you talk AND listen. Prayer isn’t about just asking for things or situations to change; it’s first about conversation. That’s about talking and listening; not just asking.
Yes, we think about praying as asking God to heal a loved one, to let us win the lottery, to forgive our mistakes, and to do a million other things. That’s the human part of prayer. But the God-full part of prayer is simply having a conversation with God. It’s about opening up your heart, mind, and soul. It’s about being totally honest with God and putting it all out there.
God knows exactly what is in you heart and mind even before you try to converse about it. God knows exactly what you need. Prayer is you knowing it as well and opening up to what’s inside of you. Sure, we all ask for things in prayer. We have to keep in mind, however, that the “answers to our prayers” are God’s answers and not ours.
If you don’t think that prayer works, start praying. First think about prayer before you start praying. It works if you give it the time, an honest try, and you converse with God before you ask for anything.
Have a GREAT day!
