This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24)!!! I added the three exclamation points for emphasis because “this is the day that the Lord has made” and don’t let it pass you by without thanking him. We spend so much of our lives living in a combination of the past and the future that we forget about today. Regardless of your struggles today, today is a day like no other past or present. It is today and a God-made, unique, and special day. Give it and him some glory today.
I always catch myself looking back to think through what I could have done different. The other part of my time I spend looking to tomorrow and what lies ahead. That often leaves little time to simply enjoy today, regardless of the day. It is a day that God has made and we throw it in his face by not rejoicing in it.
I’m making a habit of rolling out of bed each day to my knees and reciting Psalm 118:24 with some feeling. If I can’t focus on today and live more in the present I’ll never be happy—life becomes one of missed opportunities and future hopes, not the reality of today.
My view of heaven is that time stops—there is no past or future. Heaven is only today. Think about it and it sounds heavenly. Only living in the moment—forever.
Bring some heaven to your life. Live in the moment. Live today. And rejoice today—you deserve it and God intends it!
