You Plan; God Directs

The human mind plans the way, but the Lord directs the steps. Proverbs 16:9

The plan is ours—where we want to go and how we want to get there. We established our freedom of choice in the garden, starting with our freedom to make bad decisions. We are not puppets at the end of God’s strings. We are free to plan and choose. But God clearly directs our steps on the path we set, trying to direct us on the right path. The path to Him.

If we would just open up our minds and hearts to God we would see clearly our path of life—the right path! Unfortunately, we don’t open up our minds and hearts to God. The result is the world we live in is filled with growing hatred and violence. With closed minds and hearts, and thinking just about ourselves, we set paths that most of the times lead nowhere—they are dead ends.

I don’t mean to be so negative but the world is spinning more out of control. That’s because fewer people open their minds and hearts to God, and setting a path that leads to God—with God directing our steps. This isn’t about God attaching the strings and we are just lifeless puppets. It’s about being in concert with God and letting God direct our steps on the path of life. A path that leads to Him.

It all starts with LISTENing for and to God. That requires spending at least a little time with God each day. It means shutting our your busy world and simply letting go. Let go, let God. It doesn’t take anything more than stopping and opening up to God. You talk; he will LISTEN. You LISTEN and he will talk.
