Away; But Not From God

I spent last week trying—somewhat unsuccessfully!—to get away from work during my “staycation.” I simply had to try to catch my breath, take care of a few personal issues, and get away from the rat race for a few days. But unlike times past when I tried to drop out from everything, including God, this time I tried to move even closer to God.

The world is a loud, busy place. And most of the news surrounding us is bad, filled with underlying hatred in the killings, rapes, bombings, etc. that we can’t seem to escape. Our lives seem to be nonstop, with little time to get away from the news and ourselves. In the rush of day-to-day, God takes a backseat in our lives even thought He should be in the front seat, with us asking Him for directions on where we should be driving our lives.

So, taking a little time off, to not go anywhere except to regroup for a few days, is what I needed to do last week. I tried to just stop and spend a little time thinking. That included thinking through the Secrets to Life and how I need to more ingrain them in my life—LISTEN, READ, LOVE, FIGHT, BELIEVE, LIVE & PRAY. They are my guideposts to life.

I strongly suggest trying to find some time to just get away from it all on occasion. However, in getting away try getting closer to God. Thinking about the Secrets to Life and putting them more into action in life is what helps me. I hope they can help you, which is why I bother to post and tweet about them during the week. I am just trying to do my part, hoping my little insights about God and life help others.

Have a GREAT day!
