A lot of people say they are “Christian.” In fact, close to a third of the people on the planet say they are followers of Jesus Christ. However, I’m wondering if that is “Christian” in word only or in action? After all, talk is cheap.
What was Jesus all about? He came into the world quietly, born of simple means. He left everything behind for three years touching as many people as he could with a mission that can be summed up in one word: LOVE. As He left us there was one command to us: LOVE. And because He knew that talk was cheap He died for us out of one reason: LOVE.
So, if you want to be a true follower of Christ—meaning, a Christian—you have to LOVE. It’s that very simple. Not complicated, nothing profound. You don’t need to be religious; in fact, nothing about Jesus was religious. He simply went about His business preaching, and ultimately commanding, LOVE. Simple.
“This is my command, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12
It seems to me that looking at the world today, and so many professed “Christians,” something is wrong. There is clearly a lack of true love in the world. That can only mean there are a lot more “Christians” in word only; not in true action of following Jesus Christ.
Stop today and look at your life. How much of it is lived loving?
Want to truly be a Christian? Simple. LOVE.
Have a great day loving!
