If you really spend quality time conversing with God each day, you know the answer—YES! Prayer works. There is no doubt about it. If you don’t know the answer, or believe it is “no,” then my response to you is simple—PRAY! Because it most definitely works.
Let’s step back a minute to take a look at prayer—what it is and what it isn’t. Prayer is simply conversing with God. Opening up your heart and mind to God, and just not doing all the talking. Listening is a big part of prayer. Prayer is not just mindlessly repeating words you learned a long time ago, Prayer is not a monologue; it’s a dialogue.
Prayer is laying it all on the line with God, knowing that he knows everything in your mind and heart long before you say it. But by saying what’s in your soul, and by opening up to God, you remove “you” as a big obstacle standing in front of you and God.
Prayer is not like rubbing a magic lamp—you wish and God grants. Prayer is about getting answers, but answers that you may not want to hear. But if you pray with conviction you will understand that God’s answers are the only answers for you.
Doubt is the real prayer killer. Doubt that prayer works. Doubt that God will talk to you. Doubt that God will provide any answers. Doubt is death to prayer’s life.
Don’t know how to prayer. It’s as easy as anything. Just open up to God. Talk, but take time to listen. And persevere—prayer is about perseverance. Spend just a fraction of the time you spend shopping, watching TV, etc. in prayer and you will see results if you stick with it.
PRAY! You’ll be amazed that it does really work.
