You and I put Jesus on the cross. We had a hand in each nail strike. That’s because Jesus hung on that bloody cross to save us. Every day we are either taking the nails out to get Jesus off our personal cross or hammering them back in. This week I did some hammering as I let the noise of the world overwhelm me.
We have a choice every day in life: either take Jesus down from the cross in our life or leave him hanging. This isn’t some religious mumbo-jumbo—it’s about life choice. Whether we acknowledge it or not, are grateful or not, Jesus hung on that cross and died for us. He then rose to a new life. That’s a given whether we do anything about it or not! The choice we have is to accept that gift by taking Jesus down from the cross we all carry and rise to a new life with him.
We take Jesus off the cross by simply doing what he commanded us to do—LOVE! We love if we get the focus off of ourselves and on to others. It’s that simple. Every time you LOVE in the way Jesus sacrificed you are pulling out those nails. Every time it’s all about you, you are driving the nails in further.
What Jesus wants us to do in loving others, just like he did, is a very simple concept. But our minds and bodies get in the way of our spirit. It’s tough to execute. My new visual are those nails—am I removing them or driving them in further? This week the nails went in a little further. I have to focus more on others to get them out.
Have a GREAT day!
