Life can get so difficult, especially as we get older. But God means life to be so very, very—and I mean VERY—simple. He commands us to do one very, very simple thing: LOVE. And all we do is ignore God and throw it back in his face by totally ignoring that command to LOVE. Look at the world around us. Defined by LOVE? Clearly not. Look at your own life. Defined by LOVE? If like mine, I bet not.
I have found that a Real Secret to Life is LOVE. Perhaps the one really key Secret to Life. I write a lot about it and God’s simple command to us to LOVE. But it’s tough. Someone doesn’t agree with you, or talks bad about you, and it’s really tough to LOVE. Someone cuts you off in traffic and it’s tough to LOVE. I can go on and on with examples but it’s sometimes very tough to LOVE. I’m reminded of that now as I go through a situation that makes it tough to LOVE.
But LOVE we must because God commands us. He loves us unconditionally, no matter what we do in life. He sent His only Son to us, out of LOVE, and Jesus gave us a new commandment to LOVE. And that’s all because God is simply defined as and by LOVE.
God is love. 1 John 4:16
We simply have to live our lives in LOVE. It’s amazing what happens when you really try to LOVE how the complications in life seem to melt away. It’s not easy to live in LOVE but we need to break out of ourselves and do it. Get your focus off of yourself and onto others. Think God when you look into the face of anyone around you. LOVE will make your world go around if you really try to LOVE.
