Be Humble or Be Humbled?

You have a choice: Be humble or be humbled. Jesus said it pretty clearly:

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. Luke 14:11

And that’s coming from someone who was the model of humility. Born in a stable to unassuming earthly parents. Worked as a carpenter for 90% of his life in total obscurity. Died the most humble of deaths after being tortured, spit upon, and insulted. Now, that’s humility!

Jesus doesn’t expect us to top Him. But He is the model of what true humility looks like. And even when they wanted to coronate Jesus as king He snuck off in humility.

Exalt yourself and be humbled. Humble yourself and be exalted. Interesting choice.

Abundant Hope in Your Future!

There is not just a little hope in your future but abundant hope in your future. If you cast your life with Jesus what God said to Jeremiah…

“There is hope in your future.” Jeremiah 31:17

Comes to life in Jesus…

“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10 

Life is all about where your priorities are. Make your world your priority and live with what the world hands you. Make God your priority, truly following the life Jesus laid out for us, and there is abundant hope in your future. Every day is a great day with doors open up all over the place, regardless of any windows that close. Hope truly does spring eternal in Jesus’ footsteps. Follow them!

In the Beginning… Amen. First and Last Words of the Bible and Your Life.

The first and last words in the Bible are, “In the beginning” and “Amen” (Genesis 1:1 and Revelation 22:21). The lessons in between those words are a lesson on life. And each of our lives start with “In the beginning…” and end in “Amen.” In between is the story of each of our lives. How we live—what we learn from the lessons in the Bible, if anything—is the story of our life.

“Amen” and life is over but then a new life begins. Where we spend that life in eternity depends on how we live this life and what we have leaned from beginning to Amen end.

Jesus says, “RELAX!” He’s Got This.

It can’t be any clearer—“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10). Those are Jesus words to us. So simple but so meaningful. He’s telling us to relax; He’s got this. Forget God! Let’s Go It Alone!!!

That’s exactly what we are doing on this planet, starting with this country. We are going it alone without God. Who needs God anyway? All we need is more money, more guns, more heroin, more, more, and more. Another shooting yesterday, more juvenile, hateful behavior from self-professed Christians vying for the most powerful position on the planet, and a general movement away from God. Do You Know Your Life Path?

We all have a life path. There is one straight direction leading to our Creator, but for almost all of us the path is twisty, bumpy and has offshoots that are dead ends. But that one clear, straight, smooth path exists—we just have to LISTEN to God to find it.

I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
Isaiah 48:17
