I’ll put it right out there for all—my New Year’s resolution is to make God every day, not just Sundays. Check that; make God an every second God, not just a God for every day. What do I mean? For many Christians, God is a Sunday God. He stays in that place of worship Sunday, and just maybe we let God live with us for the rest of the day. But come Monday, and the “real” world revs up for another week, we leave God behind. Continue reading “Sunday or Everyday God?”

Pay It Forward or Backwards This Christmas. Just Give!
In Missoula, Mont., a man spent more than $1,200 to pay down the balances of six customers whose layaway orders were about to be returned to a Kmart store’s inventory because of late payments. Store employees reached one beneficiary on her cellphone at Seattle Children’s Hospital, where her son was being treated for an undisclosed illness. She was yelling at the nurses, “We’re going to have Christmas after all!” store manager Josine Murrin said.

Pay anything forward or backwards this Christmas. Start with a smile, especially when the other person is not smiling. It doesn’t have to be paid with money; pay by helping someone else. Make sure your local food pantry is stocked. There is always something you can pay forward or backwards, regardless of your means.
But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.” Mark 12:42-43
Smile! Give! Help!
My Greeting from God After My Vacation from Him!
I took some time off last week from work and, as it turned out, from God. I didn’t start out planning a vacation from God; in fact, I was planning just the opposite. I thought that with some time away from the pressures of work I could actually spent more time with God. The opposite actually happened—I left God at home for some reason. It was like I was trying to get away from everything, except for my wife who was physically with me. So, when I got back home God greeted me with his thoughts starting with a scripture verse that screamed at me. Continue reading “My Greeting from God After My Vacation from Him!”
What’s Love? Christ Dying For You!
God demonstrated his unconditional love for us in the most extreme way possible—God gave us his only Son. Jesus’ life showed us how to live our lives. His death liberated us from our sins.
God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
When you get mad at someone today, or simply are gruff and don’t smile, think about God’s one simple command to us: LOVE! And think about how God backed that talk with action. Jesus is the proof. Before he left us he passed on that command.
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12
Very simple but key thoughts for today and everyday.

All Violence, Domestic and Other, is Against the Nature of God
I am shocked and disgusted by Ray Rice, a powerful NFL football player, slugging his then finance and knocking her cold. Domestic violence is a real cancer that needs to be stopped. But violence of any type also needs to be stopped. In case anyone forgets, “God is love.” (1 John 4:16) That doesn’t mean selective “love.” It means 100% pure love at its core. God is not only love but is defined as love. So, violence of any type, domestic or other, is against the very nature of God. Continue reading “All Violence, Domestic and Other, is Against the Nature of God”
Boby or Soul?
You can live by your body or your soul. It’s that simple. Live with your body ruling and bodily pleasures rule. Live by your soul ruling and you live to a higher cause, not just on this earth but in the next, better life to come. Because we all have free will, the choice is yours. Do Not Harden Your Heart
The more problems I have with friends and family lately the more this verse pops up:
Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion. Hebrews 3:8
It’s so easy to turn inward and only think of yourself as being right. The result is that you harden your heart. And when your heart gets hard it turns you into one hard and calloused person. Continue reading “Do Not Harden Your Heart”
Pleasing You, Others, or God?
Who do you live for—you, others, or God? Do you live each day trying to please yourself, others, or God? The first two are a losing battle. The only way to live life is by living to please God. In doing so, you may not please everyone but you will sure please yourself and at least some others in the process. You will find greater happiness, fulfillment, and peace in your life. Sound too simple? That’s because it is! Continue reading “Pleasing You, Others, or God?”
Are You a Rock?
Jesus said to Peter, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church.” (Matthew 16:18) Peter was a rock but one rock does not build a church. It takes many rocks to build a church; the higher the church, the more rocks it takes. That’s why each one of us needs to be a rock. Jesus by his life taught us to be rocks. Are you? Continue reading “Are You a Rock?”
