Desert or Promised Land — Where Are You?

I’m tired of roaming the desert in my life. Like the Israelites, it’s been far too many years with way too little progress. It’s time to break out of the desert and cross over to the Promised Land—heaven on earth.

I can imagine what you are thinking now after reading that—I’m thinking the same. What is this nonsense and what does it mean? Bring this back down to reality!

I’ve spend too much time in my life worrying about yesterday and tomorrow. I often look past where I am today and yearn where I want to be tomorrow. I worry too much about the “things” in my life and getting more of them. I type-A my life to death. All that leads to stagnation and unhappiness—a desert.

I’m breaking out of that desert and finding the Promised Land in my life. It’s not a place but a state of mind that leads to happiness, fulfillment, and peace. Yes, the life storms will brew up and the boat will feel like it’s going to be swamped on occasion. But Jesus is always there to grab my hand, cast the doubt away, and save me.

So, what am I doing differently? I’m getting up each day and immediately smiling as I think…

Today is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

I’m incorporating the Real Secrets to Lifelisten, read, love, fight, believe, live & pray—into my life more than ever. I’m not just trying to think about them but live by them. I’m realizing that the Promised Land is not a distant place or time—it’s inside of me. I have been saved and Jesus is always there—less than a heart beat away—ready to help me through any rough time. I’m not perfect; I’m human. I’ll take a step back from time to time but there always needs to be at least two steps forward.

God gives us the promise of eternity in the Promised Land of heaven. What we see past is that the Promised Land is inside of us here on earth. It’s not a place or time; it’s a state of mind. That’s where I want to be and stay. I will be pulled back to the desert on occasion but it won’t be to stay.

I pray that you find the Promised Land—heaven on earth—in your life!
