No One is Better Than You (And You’re Not Better Than Anyone!)

Paul sums it up in his letter to the Romans:

God shows no partiality. Romans 2:11

We are all totally equal in the eyes of God. If that were not the case, God would not be true God. He’d be like the jealous, vindictive, petty gods of myth.

God looks at you exactly—not somewhat, but exactly—like anyone else. That means you need to look at yourself exactly like anyone else. No worse or no better. You are equal.

In today’s world, maybe more than ever, we measure equality with things—money, houses, cars, clothes, etc. Well, I have news for you in case you don’t know it. God’s eyes see equality in a totally different light. Your eyes need to do the same.

No one—and I mean no one—gets to take those things along with them when they die. We all exit this world equally. We need to start living it equally.

Take a look around you as you walk down the street today. Equal. Equal. Equal. No matter who you see.

God shows no partiality. Shouldn’t you follow God’s lead?

Have a GREAT day and even better weekend!!!

Heaven Is In You

I’m reading a book, Imagine Heaven: Near-Death Experiences, God’s Promise, And The Exhilarating Future That Awaits You (John Burke), that gives some common, exciting visions of heaven from people purporting to have been there near death. Although God’s promise is there is an eternity, and heaven is one side of that eternity, there is a heaven on earth in each of us. We just need to find it inside of us and this life becomes heaven, regardless of its twists and turns. And find that heaven inside of you and the eternity of heaven is a sure thing. Going There More Important Than Arriving

This is a great quote to remember every day…

When we think of the journey of life, the going is more important than the arriving. We are not here to be somewhere. We are here to live and to share our lives with each other. Our lives are the ultimate pilgrimage. Reverend James O’Leary, I Think I Am Happier Than I Think I Am

Share your life with at least one person today. Better yet, share it with everyone you meet. Try to give just a little of yourself with everyone around you today. And tomorrow and tomorrow.

The walk of life is more important than the end of the journey. Remember that and the journey never ends in an eternity of bliss.

Testing Your Faith Like Job

Matt and Kellie, high school friends and then sweethearts after college, were married over five years ago in a special ceremony in the Colorado wilds. When Evan came along three years ago they didn’t stop enjoying the beauty of Colorado, but simply hooked him up for their hikes. So, it was beyond a shock when Kellie, in her early thirties, had a massive heart attack and died with Jess at her side. When something like this happens it tends to rattle the foundations of our faith. How can God, with all the marital strife in the world, and Hollywood stars changing partners faster than you can keep track, let this happen? Both parents are in shock, Jess lost his soulmate, and Evan lost the mother he will never really know. I have to run to Job for answers. Continue reading “Testing Your Faith Like Job”

Is Heaven REALLY for Real?

Yes. You can read the book (Heaven is for Real) about a little boy’s journey to heaven and back, or wait for the movie based on the book due out for Easter 2014. Or you can read any number of books about heaven experiences or, better yet, talk to a person who has had a “heaven” experience. My wife is a nurse who in her critical care days saw these experiences up close with patients on death’s edge. Or you can READ the Bible and understand that eternity is God’s promise to us. How we LIVE this life depends on where we spend that eternity—in heaven or down there. Continue reading “Is Heaven REALLY for Real?”

With God, Only the Present.

Maybe I’m the exception but I live a lot of my life in the past or the future. I spend a lot of time thinking about what I did or did not do yesterday—or what I need to do tomorrow. I’m realizing that I spend so little Continue reading “With God, Only the Present.”

Desert or Promised Land — Where Are You?

I’m tired of roaming the desert in my life. Like the Israelites, it’s been far too many years with way too little progress. It’s time to break out of the desert and cross over to the Continue reading “Desert or Promised Land — Where Are You?”
