There are two paths in life: one is demanding service and the other is serving. It doesn’t matter whether in your work or personal life. You are either the type of person that demands service or who wants to serve. It’s a good week to think about this—and really be honest with yourself!—as we contemplate how Jesus lived his life. So, which path are you on? Continue reading “Do You Demand Service or Serve?”

We Are Clay; God is Sculptor
There are very few people who realize what God would make of them if they abandoned themselves into his hands, and let themselves be formed by his grace.
Saint Ignatius Loyola
We are the clay and God is the sculptor. He can’t form you if you don’t let him. There’s a beautiful, unique piece of art in you but you have to Continue reading “We Are Clay; God is Sculptor”
Would You Walk Past This Homeless Child?
Watch this video and be honest with yourself—Would you walk past this homeless child? So many people did until just one person stopped. And look who stopped. Sobering.
Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of those who are members of my family, you did it to me. Matthew 25:40
Who will you pass by today—or stop and help?
Give to everyone who begs from you. Luke 6:30
Time to Die
You read it right—it’s time to die. Not in the way you are thinking but dying to Jesus. He died for us. We need to die to him. What does this mumbo-jumbo mean in a practical sense? It simply means if you are going to be a true Christian—in action, not just title—you need to leave “you” behind and start focusing on others. That’s what Jesus did and if you are going to really be a follower you need to follow Jesus’ lead. It’s that simple. Continue reading “Time to Die”
We Are All Children of God!
Guy takes 10 minutes in the airport security line emptying out the contents of his life from his pockets. Woman talks so loudly on her phone about her life that the whole plane can hear her before taking off. Guy next to me takes his shoes off and the odor is stifling. A lot of people operate in their own worlds oblivious to others around them. Then, there are some who are very aware of others and all they want to do is kill them because of their race, religious beliefs, or some other reason. There is one inescapable fact about everyone—we are all children of God! Period, end of statement. There are no exceptions! Continue reading “We Are All Children of God!”

Jesus in Disbelief!!!
Imagine looking down on this world. There is violence across the globe and racial tensions everywhere you turn in the US. Slurs and shootings have dominated the news this week. Sure, we have made progress since Selma but how much have we really made? Jesus has to be looking at this and thinking, “This is what I gave my life for? Doesn’t anyone remember my last command to LOVE?” Continue reading “Jesus in Disbelief!!!”

Don’t Conform; Transform!
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
This is one of the best Bible verses to live your life by day in, day out. Don’t conform to the world but transform yourself by renewing your thinking in concert with God. Live to get in sync to God, not the world. Lead, don’t follow. Speak up, don’t stay silent. Be your own person—unique and special as God created you! Continue reading “Don’t Conform; Transform!”
Jesus Is My Everything!
This is my new saying to meditate on, especially when life gets a bit rocky. What it means is that everything in life—how to LIVE it in general; how to think, how to interact with others, etc.—flows from Jesus. How he lived his life, what he said during it, and how he inspired others after he gave up this life is my guidepost on how to LIVE my life. Simply put—Jesus is my EVERYTHING!
