Don’t Conform; Transform!

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

This is one of the best Bible verses to live your life by day in, day out. Don’t conform to the world but transform yourself by renewing your thinking in concert with God. Live to get in sync to God, not the world. Lead, don’t follow. Speak up, don’t stay silent. Be your own person—unique and special as God created you!  Continue reading “Don’t Conform; Transform!”

God Says, LOVE!” We Throw It Back In His Face!

Life can get so difficult, especially as we get older. But God means life to be so very, very—and I mean VERY—simple. He commands us to do one very, very simple thing: LOVE. And all we do is ignore God and throw it back in his face by totally ignoring that command to LOVE. Look at the world around us. Defined by LOVE? Clearly not. Look at your own life. Defined by LOVE? If like mine, I bet not. Continue reading “God Says, LOVE!” We Throw It Back In His Face!”

God Made You Unique: There is No One Like You!

You are unique. When God made you he threw away the mold. You may look just like a family member, even have a twin, or act like someone else, but you are totally unique. So, if you get down on yourself at times, or even question your worth, know that you are one of a kind. A masterpiece in God’s eyes.

God sees our inner being. He doesn’t see as we see.

The Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

We see outward differences and are either attracted by the flesh or discriminate against it. Think about this. We typically associate—friend, marry, etc.—with people who look similar. A lot of us stay at least arms distant from those who don’t look like us. As humans throughout history we have persecuted those who don’t look like us and even today discrimination is more rampant than ever.

The ironic thing is we are all different. No two of us are even closely alike. God loves our differences. If not, God would have made a bunch of clones. He looks at us, sees those differences, and loves us because God sees himself in us. We were made in his image. We look at outward differences and typically stay away, or even are repulsed.

Love your uniqueness and thank God for it. But learn to love the uniqueness in others, both outside and in. Diversity should be our strength; we make it our weakness. Let God’s love that he has for you flow through you to others. Open your eyes to the beauty of God in every person you encounter today.

This is a season to be truly merry by embracing others by seeing through them to their special, unique, God-made hearts. Let your heart touch those of others this Christmas season!

What is Jesus Saying Today?

He is most likely speechless and saying nothing. Just shaking his head in disbelief. Ray Rise, Adrian Peterson, and the violence mess in the NFL. ISIS/ISIL, whatever you want to call it, and public beheadings simply to get attention. Rampant rapes in India, with women treated like dirt. The Catholic Church and the endless pedophile mess. It goes on and on, all over the world. Forget WWJD (What Would Jesus Do). It’s all about WWJND (What Would Jesus Not Do). Because WWJND is the way this world is spinning. All Violence, Domestic and Other, is Against the Nature of God

I am shocked and disgusted by Ray Rice, a powerful NFL football player, slugging his then finance and knocking her cold. Domestic violence is a real cancer that needs to be stopped. But violence of any type also needs to be stopped. In case anyone forgets, “God is love.” (1 John 4:16) That doesn’t mean selective “love.” It means 100% pure love at its core. God is not only love but is defined as love. So, violence of any type, domestic or other, is against the very nature of God. Made in the Image of God

Love quotes or thoughts that you can carry around and really think about. Here’s one for today:

“Being made in the image of God invests us with a portable spirituality center. No matter where we go, so long as we carry this core identity with us, we remain spiritually impervious to the ups and downs of external circumstances.” Naomi H. Rosenblatt and Joshua Horwitz, Wrestling with Angels

As you think about this, remember that God is defined as love. He is love. So being made in the image and likeness of God means you are love—or, should be love.

Have a GREAT day knowing that God made you. He is in you!

Are You a Rock?

Jesus said to Peter, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church.” (Matthew 16:18) Peter was a rock but one rock does not build a church. It takes many rocks to build a church; the higher the church, the more rocks it takes. That’s why each one of us needs to be a rock. Jesus by his life taught us to be rocks. Are you? Christian Acid Test #2—Forgiveness

I wrote a few days ago about the acid test of a real Christian is living in LOVE. God the Father first commanded us to LOVE. In order to open up our deaf ears the Father sent His only Son to repeat the command—LOVE. As is often the case when I write a post I end up being faced with it head on. A family situation is making it hard to do anything but LOVE. So, I’m trying my best to forgive in order to LOVE. Continue reading “Christian Acid Test #2—Forgiveness”
