Jesus said to Peter, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church.” (Matthew 16:18) Peter was a rock but one rock does not build a church. Christian Acid Test #2—Forgiveness

I wrote a few days ago about the acid test of a real Christian is living in LOVE. God the Father first commanded us to LOVE. In order to open up our deaf ears the Father sent His only Son to repeat the command—LOVE. As is often the case when I write a post I end up being faced with it head on. Are You Christian? Here’s the Acid Test.

LOVE!!! If you walk in love and believe that Jesus Christ is your Savior, you are Christian. Note the first criteria that you must walk in love. It’s not sufficient that you simply believe in Jesus. God is love. Love him. We love him by loving everyone.

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8

When we think of words to describe God we typically think of all-powerful, all-mighty, creator, infinite, all knowing, etc. God is often described in words that are removed and almost cold. Our visuals relating to God are things like thunder and lightening, and a booming voice from on high. However, there is one simple word that describes God: love. Continue reading “God is love.
