“Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword.” Matthew 26:52
Substitute the word “sword” with “gun.” Jesus was pretty clear in what He said. And he’s speaking to us as we are perishing from guns.
Once again, pretty simple. Then again, God made life to be so very simple. We are the ones who complicate it.
John said it best and very simply—God is love. (1 John 4:8). It could not be simpler. God is pure love—the essence of what love is. There is a reason why we find so little love in the world today. The first and last words in the Bible are, “In the beginning” and “Amen” (Genesis 1:1 and Revelation 22:21). The lessons in between those words are a lesson on life. And each of our lives start with “In the beginning…” and end in “Amen.” In between is the story of each of our lives. How we live—what we learn from the lessons in the Bible, if anything—is the story of our life.
“Amen” and life is over but then a new life begins. Where we spend that life in eternity depends on how we live this life and what we have leaned from beginning to Amen end.
