Pay It Forward or Backwards This Christmas. Just Give!

In Missoula, Mont., a man spent more than $1,200 to pay down the balances of six customers whose layaway orders were about to be returned to a Kmart store’s inventory because of late payments. Store employees reached one beneficiary on her cellphone at Seattle Children’s Hospital, where her son was being treated for an undisclosed illness. She was yelling at the nurses, “We’re going to have Christmas after all!” store manager Josine Murrin said.

Pay anything forward or backwards this Christmas. Start with a smile, especially when the other person is not smiling. It doesn’t have to be paid with money; pay by helping someone else. Make sure your local food pantry is stocked. There is always something you can pay forward or backwards, regardless of your means.

But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.” Mark 12:42-43

Smile! Give! Help!

Feel God’s Light? Let It Shine!!!

God’s light is shining on you! Take at least a few minutes today to feel that light. Then, make sure that God’s light doesn’t stop with you. Let it shine, let it shine!!!

Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen on you. Isaiah 60:1

God Made You Unique: There is No One Like You!

You are unique. When God made you he threw away the mold. You may look just like a family member, even have a twin, or act like someone else, but you are totally unique. So, if you get down on yourself at times, or even question your worth, know that you are one of a kind. A masterpiece in God’s eyes.

God sees our inner being. He doesn’t see as we see.

The Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

We see outward differences and are either attracted by the flesh or discriminate against it. Think about this. We typically associate—friend, marry, etc.—with people who look similar. A lot of us stay at least arms distant from those who don’t look like us. As humans throughout history we have persecuted those who don’t look like us and even today discrimination is more rampant than ever.

The ironic thing is we are all different. No two of us are even closely alike. God loves our differences. If not, God would have made a bunch of clones. He looks at us, sees those differences, and loves us because God sees himself in us. We were made in his image. We look at outward differences and typically stay away, or even are repulsed.

Love your uniqueness and thank God for it. But learn to love the uniqueness in others, both outside and in. Diversity should be our strength; we make it our weakness. Let God’s love that he has for you flow through you to others. Open your eyes to the beauty of God in every person you encounter today.

This is a season to be truly merry by embracing others by seeing through them to their special, unique, God-made hearts. Let your heart touch those of others this Christmas season!

Do You Have a Guardian Angel?

Yes. Everyone does. How do I know? Because I know I have one and if I have one every other person on this earth has one. No matter what our physical (health, wealth, etc) circumstances, God sees our souls and sees all souls of His children equally. Trust me—You have a guardian angel! Continue reading “Do You Have a Guardian Angel?”

Only One Light Can Break Up the Cloud Hanging Over Your Head

I have a cloud hanging over my head. Can’t really explain why but I think it’s a mixture of too much work to do, too much Christmas anxiety, and a few other “things” mixed in. My mind won’t stop and the more it motors the cloud seems to get denser and darker. I know there is only one light that can break up the cloud and that light is Jesus. So, that’s the direction I’m looking for help. Continue reading “Only One Light Can Break Up the Cloud Hanging Over Your Head”

Make Every Day a Thanksgiving Day!

Every day should be a day of thanks giving! Regardless of your circumstances, we all share a common bond of needing to give thanks. Jesus Christ walked among us to show us the way to eternity with God. He saved each one of us personally by cleaning the slate on our sins—past, present, and future. Every day when we fall or jump out of bed we should be on our knees giving thanks to God! Continue reading “Make Every Day a Thanksgiving Day!”

Christmas Is Over. Christ Isn’t.

December 25th has come and gone. The trees are drooping in their stands and there are presents to return. The holiday is gone—the rush thankfully over—but fortunately the Savior is still here. He always is. Continue reading “Christmas Is Over. Christ Isn’t.”

Take Him Off the Cross

This is a great time of year for each one of us to take Jesus off the cross. He can’t rise in our lives if we don’t bring him down, take out the nails, and unfree him to rise, just like Joseph of Arimathea did. What? More abstraction than reality? Think again. Continue reading “Take Him Off the Cross”

Ready for Christmas or Christ?

I’m trying to answer that question. In my case, I think the answer is neither. I’m not finished with the Christmas shopping and between that and work I’m not ready for Christ. Sad—I know. Continue reading “Ready for Christmas or Christ?”
