I try to look at my life each day but life tends to get in the way. Meaning, the chaos of my professional and personal “lives” tends to drown out the daily look back on where I have been and where I am heading in life. That’s part of the problem as I look back on 2015 and try to plot a course ahead for 2016. That’s why I find myself falling back on the Secrets to Life—and I mean the Real Secrets to Life. 2016: No Time for God!
The New Year has started with a bang for me. Vacation time followed by a hectic business schedule. Trying to tread water and juggle everything. But in the process I realized that I left God behind. There has simply been no time for Him! Continue reading “2016: No Time for God!”
Let Your Light Shine in a Dark World
Look around you. The world is a dark place. No matter where you turn, evil is having its day. There is only one way to lighten a dark world—Let your light shine. Don’t listen to me. Jesus said it best:
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
Just before he said that, Jesus said: Continue reading “Let Your Light Shine in a Dark World”
God’s Recipe: Squeeze Out the Bitterness
With the holidays upon us, everyone is following some type of family or book recipe in preparing meals. God’s recipe is pretty simply: Squeeze out any bitterness in your life. And if you follow God’s recipe to the letter, it means squeeze out every last drop of bitterness. Failure to follow that and the life you are cooking up will flop. Big time! Continue reading “God’s Recipe: Squeeze Out the Bitterness”
On God, Moving Mountains, and Doubt
Let me make this very clear—You can move mountains in your life! God made you, is in you, and has built power in you that few realize or understand. You can do anything. The only thing holding you back is you—and doubt. My bet is that right now doubt is in your mind saying, “This is nonsense.” Continue reading “On God, Moving Mountains, and Doubt”
We Are Clay; God is Sculptor
There are very few people who realize what God would make of them if they abandoned themselves into his hands, and let themselves be formed by his grace.
Saint Ignatius Loyola
We are the clay and God is the sculptor. He can’t form you if you don’t let him. There’s a beautiful, unique piece of art in you but you have to Continue reading “We Are Clay; God is Sculptor”
Would You Walk Past This Homeless Child?
Watch this video and be honest with yourself—Would you walk past this homeless child? So many people did until just one person stopped. And look who stopped. Sobering.
Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of those who are members of my family, you did it to me. Matthew 25:40
Who will you pass by today—or stop and help?
Give to everyone who begs from you. Luke 6:30
Jesus in Disbelief!!!
Imagine looking down on this world. There is violence across the globe and racial tensions everywhere you turn in the US. Slurs and shootings have dominated the news this week. Sure, we have made progress since Selma but how much have we really made? Jesus has to be looking at this and thinking, “This is what I gave my life for? Doesn’t anyone remember my last command to LOVE?” Continue reading “Jesus in Disbelief!!!”
Jesus Is My Everything!
This is my new saying to meditate on, especially when life gets a bit rocky. What it means is that everything in life—how to LIVE it in general; how to think, how to interact with others, etc.—flows from Jesus. How he lived his life, what he said during it, and how he inspired others after he gave up this life is my guidepost on how to LIVE my life. Simply put—Jesus is my EVERYTHING! Continue reading “Jesus Is My Everything!”

All your possessions get wiped out. Your children are killed. You are afflicted with the most hideous sores. Your friends not only offer no support but they blame you for everything that has happened to you. Can’t get any worse! So, what does Job do. He BELIEVEs! Continue reading “BELIEVE Like Job!”
