“Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.”

One of the great, inspirational quotes from Maya Angelou, truly a shining light for us all. The world is a little dimmer with her passing but hopefully we will keep her light bright through the memories and add to it by letting our own lights shine.

My post from yesterday…

Is Your Light Shining?

Condolences, memories, and smiles!

God Means Life to Be So Very, Very Simple!

As I have said/written thousands of times, God means life to be so very simple. We are the ones who complicate it. Like a closet or basement, we accumulate “junk” that we don’t use but that crowds out useful living space. Rather than periodically go through our closets and throw out—or better yet, donate—what we don’t use we accumulate stuff. Well, that’s exactly what we do in our minds. What should be so simple we complicate. Continue reading “God Means Life to Be So Very, Very Simple!”

Jesus Is Risen—Not Today But Every Day!

Around the world we celebrate Easter as the day Jesus rose from the dead. But the fact is he did not rise in the past tense but rises every day. And if we walk in Jesus’ footsteps we rise with him each day. Continue reading “Jesus Is Risen—Not Today But Every Day!”

The Big “I” in Sin

There’s a reason the word “sin” has an “i” right smack in the middle—and a big “I” at that! Sin is all about me. When my world revolves around me, with me at the center of everything, sin is bound to result. It may not be anything you do wrong but it will at least be something you don’t do at all—sin of omission.

Is the Lord Among Us or Not?

“What kind of question is that? It’s the question (Exodus 17:7) that the Israelites asked all the time as they wandered the desert for 40 years. It’s the question buried in the devil’s temptation of Jesus in his desert of 40 days. It’s the question that we ask as we wander the deserts in our own lives. There’s a consistent theme at play here—wandering and questioning. As long as we wander our deserts we will ask the same question—Is God really with us, if he’s real at all?—or simply stop asking because God is nothing to us.  Continue reading “Is the Lord Among Us or Not?”

In Case You Need Some Empowerment Today…

To go along with my post yesterday:

Be strong and courageous: do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

God is with you WHEREVER you go, and whenever you go. You can do anything with God if you just try and don’t let doubt get in your way. Anything!

Have a great, empowered day!

No One Can Steal My Joy But They’re Trying Their Best Today!

It’s funny how this happens but I wrote a piece this morning about how only you can steal your joy. “They” can’t. Well, as often happens when I write these, I get put to the test. And that’s happening today! Family issues, a cancelled appointment that can’t be reschedule for a month, and a rock in the windshield all before lunch! No, I couldn’t even make this up if I tried.

But I won’t let the day’s events steal my joy. In fact, I’m laughing as I write this. And I’m repeating what I wrote over and over again earlier—shame on me if I let anyone or anything steal my joy. Only I can lose my joy—no one can take it.

Have a joy-filled rest of the day!

No One Can Steal Your Joy—Only You Can Do That!

Repeat after me, “No one can steal my joy—only I can do that.” There is no friend, co-worker, family member, boss, etc. who can steal your joy in life. No one! Only YOU can steal your joy. Continue reading “No One Can Steal Your Joy—Only You Can Do That!”

Can You REALLY Feel God’s Love?

Be honest! If you reach inward, can you really feel God’s love for you? In case you don’t know it, God loves you. Yes, you! He loves you as much as he loves me and every other person on this earth. Equally and unconditionally. But if you can’t feel the love that’s because you are not releasing God’s love to others. Continue reading “Can You REALLY Feel God’s Love?”

Up or Down, It’s a God-Given Day!

Let’s be honest—every day doesn’t feel like a great day, let alone even a good day. Yesterday was not a good day for me. It was a day filled with bumps and doubts that made those bumps even bigger. But this morning I latch onto the fact that it was a God-given day. Every day should be a great day when your life is God-centered. However, the fact is we are fallible humans prone to twists and turns in our lives, and centering our lives on anything but God. Continue reading “Up or Down, It’s a God-Given Day!”
