With the holidays upon us, everyone is following some type of family or book recipe in preparing meals. God’s recipe is pretty simply: Squeeze out any bitterness in your life. And if you follow God’s recipe to the letter, it means squeeze out every last drop of bitterness. Failure to follow that and the life you are cooking up will flop. Big time! Make Every Day a Thanksgiving Day!
In preparation for Thanksgiving Day, I repeat this post from last year…
Every day should be a day of thanks giving! Regardless of your circumstances, we all share a common bond of needing to give thanks. Jesus Christ walked among us to show us the way to eternity with God. He saved each one of us personally by cleaning the slate on our sins—past, present, and future. Every day when we fall or jump out of bed we should be on our knees giving thanks to God! Continue reading “Make Every Day a Thanksgiving Day!”
As Paris Mourns, God Weeps
Imagine being God and looking down at what has unfolded in Paris. In the name of some “god” (and I mean with a small “g”), a band of brutal, savage killers set the world on edge. If you are God you can only be shaking your head, asking yourself what you have done, and weeping as Paris mourns. Fortunately, none of us are God. Continue reading “As Paris Mourns, God Weeps”
Paris, Evil & God
My heart goes out to the people of Paris as they try to recover from the horrific, evil attacks of 11/13. I pray that they somehow rally and unite against the darkness that has fallen on the city of lights. This is a time for prayer, especially for the victims and their families, but also a time to embrace God to help us stop the evil that is darkening the world.
Evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
2 Timothy 3:13
As we let God slip out of our lives, evil is winning. This is a time to find God again in our lives and let His light shine on the darkness. There will be repercussions for what happened in Paris yesterday, and an escalation of the wars (and I mean plural “wars”) in the Middle East. However, this starts and ends with God in our lives. And the sooner we get that into our heads, and that each of us has a role to play, the sooner we will start rolling back the evil tide. And, yes, it is that very simple!
Vive la France! May God be with you—and all of us!
Want Forgiveness from God? Then, FORGIVE!!!
I have written about this just recently but am shocked at how little forgiveness there is in the world today. In fact, pointing fingers and seeking vengeance is the norm. So, how can any Christian pray the Lord’s prayer as Jesus taught us—”Forgive us as we forgive others”—and not forgive? Worse yet, how can any Christian go on the offensive at getting back or even with someone? The answers? They are not a follower of Jesus. No matter what they may call themselves, they are not a Christian. A Christian follows Jesus Christ—in word and action. All the time—not just when convenient. Want Goodness and Mercy? Try Sharing Them First!
One of the most widely quoted and read Bible verses is Psalm 23. It starts with “The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want.” The last verse starts with, “Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…” And both will be yours if you first share that same goodness and mercy you want from God with others. Continue reading “Want Goodness and Mercy? Try Sharing Them First!”
The Only Name Calling is God
We live in a world of name callers. Just take one look at the U.S. presidential campaign. It’s really all about name calling. Pointing out the problems with the other candidate and calling names. Look at your own life. Are you a name caller? The only name you should be calling is God. Continue reading “The Only Name Calling is God”
Heaven Is In You
I’m reading a book, Imagine Heaven: Near-Death Experiences, God’s Promise, And The Exhilarating Future That Awaits You (John Burke), that gives some common, exciting visions of heaven from people purporting to have been there near death. Although God’s promise is there is an eternity, and heaven is one side of that eternity, there is a heaven on earth in each of us. We just need to find it inside of us and this life becomes heaven, regardless of its twists and turns. And find that heaven inside of you and the eternity of heaven is a sure thing. Do You Live to Body or Soul?
This isn’t some esoteric, religious, and even impractical question. You can live life with your body ruling the way or you can walk the path of life with your soul guiding the way. Think about the differences. Living according to your body means pleasing it in ways that are only physical. And when your body dies it’s all over. Living according to your soul is preparation for eternity that starts with a brief opening act on this earth. The choice is yours. Continue reading “Do You Live to Body or Soul?”
Going There More Important Than Arriving
This is a great quote to remember every day…
When we think of the journey of life, the going is more important than the arriving. We are not here to be somewhere. We are here to live and to share our lives with each other. Our lives are the ultimate pilgrimage. Reverend James O’Leary, I Think I Am Happier Than I Think I Am
Share your life with at least one person today. Better yet, share it with everyone you meet. Try to give just a little of yourself with everyone around you today. And tomorrow and tomorrow.
The walk of life is more important than the end of the journey. Remember that and the journey never ends in an eternity of bliss.
