Jesus’ Last Moments: Lifetime of Emotions

There is a lifetime of emotions in Jesus’ last 24 hours or so on this earth. He agonized in the garden about bearing the weight of the world. He felt intense physical pain as he was beaten. He was mocked and humiliated. He needed help carrying His cross. And he died. Torment, pain, humiliation, helplessness, and death. We may not feel all these emotions in our lives but I bet that most of us do at some time or another. Certainly, it’s a 100% lock that we will all eventually face death. What Jesus gives us is that hope that we can fight through emotions because he took them all on His shoulders to death. Continue reading “Jesus’ Last Moments: Lifetime of Emotions”

Less God, More Chaos

It’s pretty simple: The less God there is in this world the more chaos we see around us. As we push God out of our lives bad things happen. The world gets darker and we get lost. Wars, shootings, and downright hatred on the streets. That’s defining our world today because we choose to push God away. When you extinguish a light you are left with darkness. Simple. What Jesus Said About Guns

“Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword.” Matthew 26:52

Substitute the word “sword” with “gun.” Jesus was pretty clear in what He said. And he’s speaking to us as we are perishing from guns.

Once again, pretty simple. Then again, God made life to be so very simple. We are the ones who complicate it.

God is Love—Which is Why There is Little Love in This World.

John said it best and very simply—God is love. (1 John 4:8). It could not be simpler. God is pure love—the essence of what love is. There is a reason why we find so little love in the world today. We have shut God out of our lives. Continue reading “God is Love—Which is Why There is Little Love in This World.”

Has God Left Us?

After the bombing in Turkey I heard a news commentator ask the question “Has God left us?” to a pastor who had witnessed the incident. Of course, it’s an absurd question. The real question is, “Have we left God?” And I think the clear answer is a resounding YES!!! Continue reading “Has God Left Us?”

I’m Back. “What Are You Looking For?”

I’ve taken a break from blogging and posting to clear my head. The question that I am trying to answer is, “What are you looking for?” It’s not my question. It’s Jesus question (John 1:38). It may be the most profound verse in the Bible and the best question of all time. What are you looking for? Continue reading “I’m Back. “What Are You Looking For?””

Seeing Souls

We judge books by their covers, without reading the book itself. We do the same with people—we look  at the physical without trying to see the soul. And I admit that I am the worst offender. Sometimes I don’t even get past the clothes! Continue reading “Seeing Souls”

Christian in Word or Action?

A lot of people say they are “Christian.” In fact, close to a third of the people on the planet say they are followers of Jesus Christ. However, I’m wondering if that is “Christian” in word only or in action? After all, talk is cheap. Continue reading “Christian in Word or Action?”

Jesus the Loser

Walked around the desert for 3 years and on several occasions they tried to stone him and throw him off a cliff. He ended up being beaten, spit on, hung from a cross. Judging by the world’s standards—especially in today’s world—Jesus is a loser. The biggest loser. Continue reading “Jesus the Loser”
