Never Look Down on Anyone Unless You’re Helping Them Up!

This short video is well worth the watch.

How many people have you passed on the street as if they weren’t even there? How many people did you fail to see God in their faces?

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'” Matthew 25:35-40

The line at the end of the video is a real life lesson: Never look down on anyone unless you’re helping them up!

Do You See God in This Picture?

My wife and I were in New York City this weekend for some R&R and to go to the 9/11 museum. On a beautiful fall weekend there were more people out and about than you can imagine. There was a lot of “jostling” walking down busy streets and patience was not exactly the theme of the day. So, I took this picture and with it was thinking about “Where is God in this sea of humanity?” Continue reading “Do You See God in This Picture?”

No, the Devil Didn’t Make You Do It!

The devil doesn’t make you do anything. The devil can’t make you do anything. What the devil does is whisper negatives in your ear and suggestions of what to do. You are the one with God-given free will. You make you do it. The devil just whispers and, when you start listening, he even shouts. Continue reading “No, the Devil Didn’t Make You Do It!”

What is Faith?

Belief. Trust. Knowing. It’s putting aside everything you judge by seeing, feeling, hearing, and smelling. It’s falling backwards without hesitation, confident that God will catch you. It’s going all in with God. Continue reading “What is Faith?”

A Birthday Wish

I’m allowed a wish on my birthday (today, October 3rd). It’s that everyone reading this will simply smile today in hopes of passing that smile along to at least two other people. A smile can be infectious. It’s a simple signal from the heart that you are happy. Passing that along to someone you don’t know, especially with a “Have a GREAT day!” can turn a person’s bad day into a good day. I could wish for more love in the world—as God commands us to love—but I’ll take a smile for my birthday.

That’s it. No lectures or verses about how God commands us to do one simple thing—LOVE! I’m just wishing that all who read this simply smile today and pass it along to others. God is smiling at you. Return that smile to his other children.

Thanks and have a GREAT day!!!

Do You Reflect God?

“Someone has said that the greatest sin is to make God unattractive.  Unfortunately, we can do this not only by the words we preach but more so by our very demeanor. Today we ask ourselves, ‘How approachable and kind am I to the people I live with, work with, serve or meet on the street? Do I reflect the amiable God I believe in?'” Sr. Melannie Svoboda, S.N.D., Living Faith Continue reading “Do You Reflect God?”

What’s Your Path?

We all have our respective paths to travel. Some of us will make it to our desired destination, whether the Promised Land, World Series, chairman of the board or parent. Some of us will come up short. But all of us have a part to play in God’s mysterious master plan and should, as Ernie Banks has taught us, make the most of our journey along the way. Gary Graf, And God Said, ‘Play Ball!’ Continue reading “What’s Your Path?”

Remembering 9/11

I really can’t say it any better than this…

O God of love, compassion, and healing. We ask you in your goodness to give eternal light and peace to all who died here the heroic first-responders: our fire fighters, police officers, emergency service workers, and Port Authority personnel, along with all the innocent men and women who were victims of this tragedy simply because their work or service brought them here on September 11, 2001. Pope Benedict XI, Prayer at Ground Zero, New York, April 20, 2008

Gotta Love Tim Tebow!

We need more Tim Tebows in this world. I’m sure he’s not a saint—we all have our demons—but he seems to do the right thing. In this case, bringing some joy to a young woman who has struggled with a terrible disease since she was 15. When some NFL owner gets the courage, and wisdom, to put Tim Tebow on his team, that team will win—just like every other team Tim Tebow has played on since pony league. In the meantime, it’s great to see the joy Tim Tebow spreads. Check it out here.

Boby or Soul?

You can live by your body or your soul. It’s that simple. Live with your body ruling and bodily pleasures rule. Live by your soul ruling and you live to a higher cause, not just on this earth but in the next, better life to come. Because we all have free will, the choice is yours.
