In the Beginning… Amen. First and Last Words of the Bible and Your Life.

The first and last words in the Bible are, “In the beginning” and “Amen” (Genesis 1:1 and Revelation 22:21). The lessons in between those words are a lesson on life. And each of our lives start with “In the beginning…” and end in “Amen.” In between is the story of each of our lives. How we live—what we learn from the lessons in the Bible, if anything—is the story of our life.

“Amen” and life is over but then a new life begins. Where we spend that life in eternity depends on how we live this life and what we have leaned from beginning to Amen end.

Finding Our Lost God

Look at the world: God is Lost. Meaning, we have lost God. God never loses us. We lose God. Look at Brussels today, Paris yesterday, the world in general. We have lost God. Worse yet, we have shut God out of our lives. And as we shut the door more on God we shut out the light in the world. The result is that world is getting darker. Not my speculation. Look around you. It can’t be any clearer—“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10). Those are Jesus words to us. So simple but so meaningful. He’s telling us to relax; He’s got this. Forget God! Let’s Go It Alone!!!

That’s exactly what we are doing on this planet, starting with this country. We are going it alone without God. Who needs God anyway? All we need is more money, more guns, more heroin, more, more, and more. Another shooting yesterday, more juvenile, hateful behavior from self-professed Christians vying for the most powerful position on the planet, and a general movement away from God. Life is this very simple; no matter how we complicate it. Want to get closer to God? Simple—LOVE! God is love (1 John 4:16) so if you want to get closer to him you have to be love. Its a bridge to God. The more you LOVE the farther you will move across the bridge. On one side of the bridge are all the complications of life on earth. On the other side is God. You May Not Think You Are Special & Unique, But God Sure Does!

When God made you He threw away the mold. Even the closest of twins are totally unique. You are so very special in the eyes of God. And totally, absolutely unique. As such, you have a very unique purpose in life. Not some preordained, puppet-on-a-string purpose in life where God walks the path for you and pulls the strings. But a free choice purpose that God has designed and is yours to realize and fulfill—all out of your own free will.

The key to life is understanding your unique purpose in life and to live life to the fullest towards that purpose. Regardless of how small or insignificant that purpose may seem to you, it is monumental in God’s eyes. However, you will never understand your real purpose in life if you don’t LISTEN to/for God.
