I Have No Time to Pray!

Funny how this works—I write a post earlier in the week about how prayer works, Then, I spend the rest of the week with little time devoted to prayer. Busy? Hypocrite? Do what I say, not what I do? Continue reading “I Have No Time to Pray!”

If You Don’t Think Prayer Works You’re Not Praying!!!

It’s that simple. Prayer works. If you don’t believe that, start praying. If you say, “I do, and all the time, but God doesn’t answer my prayers!”, here are a few thoughts to help. Continue reading “If You Don’t Think Prayer Works You’re Not Praying!!!”

Don’t Ask for Forgiveness if You Can’t Forgive!!!

I added the 3 exclamation points after my heading today for very intentional emphasis—Don’t ask for forgiveness if you can’t forgive!!! And I’m writing this not for you and others but for me. I’m preaching to myself this morning not to bother to ask God for forgiveness if I can’t forgive others. God is always less than a heartbeat away ready to forgive us, no matter what we do or don’t do to others. The question is do we dare to ask for forgiveness if we can’t forgive those around us. The answer is an emphatic “no!” Continue reading “Don’t Ask for Forgiveness if You Can’t Forgive!!!”

Cluttered Closets, Life, and God

Weird combination! I know. But life is like a closet that gets cluttered by accumulating “stuff” that you throw into it. Pretty soon the dysfunctional mess makes it hard to find anything in the closet. It’s just like life that we fill with a lot of junk, sometimes to the point where we lose sight of anything really important—starting with God. There’s nothing better than a good closet cleaning, throwing out the stuff we don’t need, to simply our lives. Continue reading “Cluttered Closets, Life, and God”

Break Out of Your Desert This Lent!

It doesn’t matter if you observe Lent. It’s just a great time to put yourself in Jesus’ shoes and contemplate life, with all it’s temptations. Jesus was led into the desert by the Spirit, spent 40 days dealing with the devil, got his head together, then broke out to fulfill his special, unique purpose in life. He had to go through that process. We do too in our own deserts. Continue reading “Break Out of Your Desert This Lent!”

Is Your Light Shining?

I’ll answer the question for you—YES! We all have an inner, soulful light that mirrors God. The problem is that some of us don’t know it and others keep their lights well hidden so no one sees them. That’s why the world seems pretty dark at times. Don’t believe all this light “stuff” I am talking about? Well, here’s a test. Continue reading “Is Your Light Shining?”

Can’t Find God?

I write a lot about keeping God at the center of your life. My 1st Secret to Life is LISTEN, both for God and to God about what he is calling you to do with your life. But there are a lot of doubters out there saying, “I can’t hear God!” “In fact, I don’t even feel God in my life.” So, here are some thoughts, and two key verses, that I hope will not only help you find God in your life but to hear him calling you. Continue reading “Can’t Find God?”

Super Bowl, Death, and God

I love sports, especially football, but I can’t help shake my head at the past two weeks. The Super Bowl hype has been unrelenting and oppressive. I told my wife that it would be fitting if the game was a blowout. It was. And a really boring game to watch unless you’re a Seahawks’ fan. It takes death and God to put some perspective on this super mess. Continue reading “Super Bowl, Death, and God”

Are You Connected to the Spirit of God? Here’s the Test…

We all have the Spirit of God in us. That’s because God created us. We don’t have to go through some rite to connect with the Spirit in us; we need to do it by action. Here’s the test if you are connected to the Spirit… Continue reading “Are You Connected to the Spirit of God? Here’s the Test…”
