God Made You Unique: There is No One Like You!

You are unique. When God made you he threw away the mold. You may look just like a family member, even have a twin, or act like someone else, but you are totally unique. So, if you get down on yourself at times, or even question your worth, know that you are one of a kind. A masterpiece in God’s eyes.

God sees our inner being. He doesn’t see as we see.

The Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

We see outward differences and are either attracted by the flesh or discriminate against it. Think about this. We typically associate—friend, marry, etc.—with people who look similar. A lot of us stay at least arms distant from those who don’t look like us. As humans throughout history we have persecuted those who don’t look like us and even today discrimination is more rampant than ever.

The ironic thing is we are all different. No two of us are even closely alike. God loves our differences. If not, God would have made a bunch of clones. He looks at us, sees those differences, and loves us because God sees himself in us. We were made in his image. We look at outward differences and typically stay away, or even are repulsed.

Love your uniqueness and thank God for it. But learn to love the uniqueness in others, both outside and in. Diversity should be our strength; we make it our weakness. Let God’s love that he has for you flow through you to others. Open your eyes to the beauty of God in every person you encounter today.

This is a season to be truly merry by embracing others by seeing through them to their special, unique, God-made hearts. Let your heart touch those of others this Christmas season!

Do You Have a Secret to Life?

I hope you have because I think we all need at least one secret to life. I have found 7 Real Secrets to Life: LISTEN, READ, LOVE, FIGHT, BELIEVE, LIVE & PRAY. They all center on God and help me keep centered on God. They are very simple because God means life to be so very simple. The problem is that we can’t help but complicate life. I struggled with life for so many years until I found these 7 simple Secrets to Life. I still struggle on occasion because life has its unexpected twists and turns. However, these 7 Secrets to Life help keep me focused on the straight, simpler path of life. If you don’t have at least one secret to life, I hope these will help. Never Look Down on Anyone Unless You’re Helping Them Up!

This short video is well worth the watch.

How many people have you passed on the street as if they weren’t even there? How many people did you fail to see God in their faces?

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'” Matthew 25:35-40

The line at the end of the video is a real life lesson: Never look down on anyone unless you’re helping them up!

What is Jesus Saying Today?

He is most likely speechless and saying nothing. Just shaking his head in disbelief. Ray Rise, Adrian Peterson, and the violence mess in the NFL. ISIS/ISIL, whatever you want to call it, and public beheadings simply to get attention. Rampant rapes in India, with women treated like dirt. The Catholic Church and the endless pedophile mess. It goes on and on, all over the world. Forget WWJD (What Would Jesus Do). It’s all about WWJND (What Would Jesus Not Do). Because WWJND is the way this world is spinning. People Hurt. Get Over It!

People around you are always going to do something that hurts your feelings. And those people even include friends and family. We are all flawed humans who tend to look inward to our own interests. So, we end up hurting others and getting hurt. Get over it. And next time you get hurt by someone remember how it feels so you don’t hurt someone else. Continue reading “People Hurt. Get Over It!”

Pleasing You, Others, or God?

Who do you live for—you, others, or God? Do you live each day trying to please yourself, others, or God? The first two are a losing battle. The only way to live life is by living to please God. In doing so, you may not please everyone but you will sure please yourself and at least some others in the process. You will find greater happiness, fulfillment, and peace in your life. Sound too simple? That’s because it is! Continue reading “Pleasing You, Others, or God?”

Tough to Forgive When You Hurt!

When you hurt and/or are angry it’s tough to forgive. But that’s just the point. If forgiving was easy it would not be forgiving. To truly forgive you have to step outside of your own skin. You have to leave the the human baggage aside and connect your spirit (not emotions) with God. Take it from me—not easy!!!

Finding God in the Back of the Closet

We’re all looking for God. A lot of us just don’t know it. We either look for answers to life, happiness, peace, and fulfillment in all the wrong places or we actively look to God for all that but can’t find him. Try looking in the back of the closet or under the junk in your basement. I found God clearly there the past few days. Continue reading “Finding God in the Back of the Closet”

Retreat to God

I’m dropping out the next few days to retreat to God. Most people these days are retreating from God. That includes me who does his best on occasion to try and shut God out of his life. I take mini vacations from God. But he’s always there and tough to shake unless you really want to shut God out of your life. So, I’m trying to do the opposite—retreat to him.

I’m going to a place of “scared ground.” A place where I know I can shut the phone off and get off of the Internet. I’m not going to tweet or post a thing for the next few days. I’m going to try and shut the world out and let God into my life. Part of me wants to expect some earth-shattering revelation from God—a Moses-type event that changes my life forever. But I know that won’t happen. It’s in the quiet where we find God. And it’s in the quiet of our lives where life becomes clearer.

I don’t know what I’ll come back with but I’ll let you know.

“Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.”

One of the great, inspirational quotes from Maya Angelou, truly a shining light for us all. The world is a little dimmer with her passing but hopefully we will keep her light bright through the memories and add to it by letting our own lights shine.

My post from yesterday…

Is Your Light Shining?

Condolences, memories, and smiles!
