Are You Christian? Here’s the Acid Test.

LOVE!!! If you walk in love and believe that Jesus Christ is your Savior, you are Christian. Note the first criteria that you must walk in love. It’s not sufficient that you simply believe in Jesus. There are a lot of so called “christians” (intentional little “c”) out there who walk in anything but love. Unfortunately, they are not real Christians.  Continue reading “Are You Christian? Get Real—The Devil is for Real!

I don’t live life obsessed with the devil. But I also don’t live it ignoring, or not believing, that the devil is for real. Open your eyes and see that evil is across the globe, a daily reality of life. And those whispers in your ear, especially the ones of doubt telling what you can’t do, are not from God. Get over it—the devil is real, alive in the world. Deal with it by acknowledging the reality and staying close to God, listening for/to him. Continue reading “Get Real—The Devil is for Real!”

Finding God in the Back of the Closet

We’re all looking for God. A lot of us just don’t know it. We either look for answers to life, happiness, peace, and fulfillment in all the wrong places or we actively look to God for all that but can’t find him. Try looking in the back of the closet or under the junk in your basement. I found God clearly there the past few days. Continue reading “Finding God in the Back of the Closet”

Retreat to God

I’m dropping out the next few days to retreat to God. Most people these days are retreating from God. That includes me who does his best on occasion to try and shut God out of his life. I take mini vacations from God. But he’s always there and tough to shake unless you really want to shut God out of your life. So, I’m trying to do the opposite—retreat to him.

I’m going to a place of “scared ground.” A place where I know I can shut the phone off and get off of the Internet. I’m not going to tweet or post a thing for the next few days. I’m going to try and shut the world out and let God into my life. Part of me wants to expect some earth-shattering revelation from God—a Moses-type event that changes my life forever. But I know that won’t happen. It’s in the quiet where we find God. And it’s in the quiet of our lives where life becomes clearer.

I don’t know what I’ll come back with but I’ll let you know.

“Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.”

One of the great, inspirational quotes from Maya Angelou, truly a shining light for us all. The world is a little dimmer with her passing but hopefully we will keep her light bright through the memories and add to it by letting our own lights shine.

My post from yesterday…

Is Your Light Shining?

Condolences, memories, and smiles!

Maya Angelou (1928-2014)

Is Your Light Shining?

We all have a light inside of us. It’s the light of God, who created each one of us in his own image and likeness of love. The world is so dark these days because we keep our light from shining. Let our lights shine and the darkness in the world diminishes. It’s that simple. Continue reading “Is Your Light Shining?”

God Means Life to Be So Very, Very Simple!

As I have said/written thousands of times, God means life to be so very simple. We are the ones who complicate it. Like a closet or basement, we accumulate “junk” that we don’t use but that crowds out useful living space. Rather than periodically go through our closets and throw out—or better yet, donate—what we don’t use we accumulate stuff. Well, that’s exactly what we do in our minds. What should be so simple we complicate. Continue reading “God Means Life to Be So Very, Very Simple!”

Let Jesus In!

I learned this week that it’s not enough to believe in Jesus and follow his command to LOVE. You have to actively let Jesus into your life. He’s always a heartbeat away but you have to bring him into your heart. No religious mumbo-jumbo; just practical advice on how to live life to the fullest and conquer any obstacles. Continue reading “Let Jesus In!”

Are You Taking the Nails Out of the Cross or Hammering Them Back In?

You and I put Jesus on the cross. We had a hand in each nail strike. That’s because Jesus hung on that bloody cross to save us. Every day we are either taking the nails out to get Jesus off our personal cross or hammering them back in. This week I did some hammering as I let the noise of the world overwhelm me. Continue reading “Are You Taking the Nails Out of the Cross or Hammering Them Back In?”
